Biography

Passionate about music, at the age of 9, Jorge Silva began studying piano at the ABRSM and harpsichord at the Conservatório de Música in Porto, Portugal where he graduated with distinction.

In 2009, 2012 and 2014, having participated in the national competition of harpsichord in Portugal where he obtained 1st prize each time, Jorge continues perfecting harpsichord and basso-continuo in the class of Marie Van Rhijn at the Regional Conservatory of Cergy-Pontoise, Paris, France where, parallelly  he studies lyric singing as a countertenor with Jean-François Rouchon.

Gaining experiences with several ensembles and orchestras in the most renowned places like "Les Surprise" in Paris, CMBV at Chapelle Royal, Versailles, XXI Orchestra on tour in Portugal, Gulbenkian Nacional Orchestra in Portugal, ESMAE Baroque Orchestra at Casa da Música (Porto, Portugal), AAM with Deal Festival, Guildhall Baroque Consorts -vocal and orchestral in Milton Court Concert Hall and Barbican Center.

Eligible for the first round of the CNSMDP in 2017, Jorge is currently a full scholar as a Master student at Guildhall School of Music&Drama in London working with Carole Cerasi and James Johnstone.

Setting himself as a Harpsichordist and Vocal Coach, he's currently in a production as the Musical Director in Dido&Aeneas by Purcell to be performed in October 2020 in Paris. All this hunger for sharing, playing music and overall arts has lead him to work with several composers continuing to bring harpsichord music to live.

This willing doesn't stop on stage and that has opened the opportunity to work/collaborate with the Ministy in Cabo-Verde handling the Culture; to discuss and plan a better access, development for young people to arts and music!
